About us
The Laboratory of
Cancer Epigenetics led by François Fuks aims to
investigate mechanisms underlying epigenetic
modifications and how they go awry in cancer
(see Research interests
for more details).
I. A current
main focus of the lab is the study of a novel
pillar of epigenetics, termed RNA epigenetics
(Delatte et al., Science 2016).

II. Heretofore, we
have been interested in studying DNA modifications (DNA
methylation and hydroxymethylation) during the processes
of transcription and the deregulated signaling endows
transcription in cancers.
III. Besides studying
fundamental mechanisms of cancer epigenetics, there is
growing interest from our lab in cancer epigenomics. In
this respect, we are heading a high throughput
sequencing platform dedicated to epigenetics:
EPICS
- EPIgenomic Creative Solutions.
The Laboratory is part
of the ULB-Cancer Research Center (U-CRC) gathering
scientists working in cutting edge cancer research areas
(basic, translational and clinical).
